Props:


  • (Optional) Barre, or a stable chair or countertop, that could be used for stability 


  • Mat or carpet

  • Blocks



  • Wall space free of anything that could pose a hazard to safety and health.

The session contains foundational sequences useful to build greater technical understanding, range, comfort, line and ability within backbends. Back Bending Basics could be useful for various skills within forms of yoga and dance:

  • Bridge variations

  • Needle scale/Dancer’s Pose

  • Fish Pose/Rib-Up’s

  • Camels

  • Splits, pigeon, or lunge shapes with a backbend

  • Several exercises will be performed from the knees.

Flexibility training should progressive. Stretches should largely be active, not forced, and focussed on maintaining strength at end ranges.

Please note that online training does have added risk: There is no one there to spot you, ensure the safety of the area you are training in, the safety of equipment you are using, your readiness to train, or monitor your alignment and approach to training. Please understand that you participate at your own risk.

  • Affirmation of Health: By participating in any Activities with BLK Yoga, you affirm that you have sought medical advice regarding your fitness or are certain of your ability to engage in the Activities.

  • Please make sure that the space that you are training in and the equipment that you use is safe.

  • Release, Waiver and Indemnity: You hereby release, hold harmless, indemnify and waive any claims against BLK Yoga, Bronwen Kettleson, and BLK Works Inc with respect to any and all liability and damages incurred during, or in any way associated with, your participation in the Activities with BLK Yoga, Bronwen Kettleson, and BLK Works Inc, however caused, including as a result of the Released Parties’ negligence, including but not limited to damage to or loss of personal property, personal injuries, death, illness, or any cause of action related to premises liability.
